Holy Marriage Blessing

The Holy Marriage Blessing takes traditional marriage to a higher level of purpose; it is much more than a wedding ceremony. Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, founders of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, began the tradition of the Holy Marriage Blessing in 1960 with their own wedding ceremony. Today, it is a worldwide tradition where couples dedicate their marriage to God and God’s ideal of true love, committing themselves to love each other eternally and to create a strong marriage and healthy family.

The ceremony is an opportunity for couples to renew or begin their marriage relationship through a new commitment to live for the world and God. By participating, couples become part of a worldwide community of Blessed Couples striving to embody God’s love, and create a better world for families.

Thousands of young couples have received the Holy Marriage Blessing in large ceremonies like the one depicted in this British made movie, “Married to the Moonies.”

Blessed Couples make the following vows:

  1. We affirm the eternal love of husband and wife comes from God.
  2. We affirm the ideal of absolute fidelity: No divorce, no adultery.
  3. We affirm that true love means to teach children sexual purity.
  4. We affirm that these values will help bring peace beyond race, nation and religion.

All married couples, of all ages, faiths and backgrounds, are welcome to participate. More information is available at Blessing America.
